Twilight Passage

In February of 2015 I traveled to New York City to watch my hockey team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, play their final game at the aging Nassau Coliseum against the New York Islanders. After that game, I had one day to spend in New York City before returning home.

That day the temperatures stayed in the single digits, and from freezing into an icicle on the Staten Island Ferry, to navigating the subways and visiting a famed Jewish deli, I saw a fraction of the places I wanted to. However, I made sure to make it to Brooklyn for the sunset over lower Manhattan and the East River. Navigating along the river I came across these old docks where hundreds of seagulls were quietly perched, creating a passing into twilight for the city that never sleeps.
