One of my goals has been to photograph the wildflowers blooming inside of Mt. St. Helens National Volcano Monument. In May of 1980, a cataclysmic eruption ripped through the valley transforming what once was a massive forest into a barren wasteland. However, today those fields are now full of Indian Paintbrushes, Larkspurs, and other flowers that have slowly transformed that once barren land into a valley thriving with wildlife.

I visited Mt. St. Helens for the first time in July of 2017, spending many hours over several days in hopes of capturing a unique sunrise or sunset. On the final day I made the trek out, managing to capture the alpine glow off the peak while the early morning light lit up the still foggy valley below.
