One of the many reasons I longed to move to the Pacific Northwest was to experience moments like this. After thirty-one years in the South, I had never seen or captured
the magic of a first snowfall in the mountains.
On the morning following the season's first snowfall at Snoqualmie Pass for the 2020-2021 winter, I set out early—not only to catch the sunrise but also to beat the
inevitable road closures from accidents. The “Blanket of White Gold,” paired with mountains peeking through the clouds, offered the perfect chance to channel my inner
Ansel Adams. I hope you enjoy this first of many black-and-white images that will soon grace my galleries.
