One of my long-time goals was to capture the wildflowers blooming in Mt. St. Helens National Volcano Monument. After the catastrophic
eruption in May of 1980, the valley was left in ruins, transforming a lush forest into a desolate wasteland. Yet, over time, nature has worked its magic,
and the once-barren landscape is now alive with vibrant Indian Paintbrushes, Larkspurs, and other wildflowers, creating a thriving valley teeming with wildlife.
I first visited Mt. St. Helens in July of 2017, spending several days in search of the perfect shot. On my final day, I ventured out early and was rewarded
with a breathtaking alpine glow on the peak, while the soft morning light bathed the foggy valley below.
