In February 2014, I ventured to the Wichita Mountains in southwest Oklahoma after they received nearly half a foot of snow. With no classes that day,
I took the opportunity for a short day trip. One of my main goals was to capture the bison against a snowy backdrop. Although not much
snow is visible in this image, you can see the snowcapped Wichita Mountains in the background.
This image is titled "Lone Warrior," a tribute to the few remaining American bison. Once numbering in the millions, only a few thousand
still roam the wild today. The bison in this shot was the alpha male of his herd and wasn't particularly fond of me getting too close.
While I may have ventured closer than I should have, I managed to get this shot before making my way back to my car. This was the first wildlife shot
I truly liked, and it has quickly become a popular seller.
