Maidan Nezalezhnosti stands at the heart of Kyiv, a symbol of resilience and freedom since Ukraine's independence in 1991.
It is here that the Maidan Revolution of 2014 reached its culmination, marking a turning point in the nation's struggle for
self-determination. Today, even amidst the ongoing war, the golden Berehynia, the protectoress of Ukraine, still watches over
Independence Square, a steadfast guardian of the country's enduring spirit.
When war broke out on 24th of February 2022, I didn't sleep for days, glued to sharing updates with a friend as we tracked
each battle, analyzing every move, and hoping for Ukraine's survival. Against the odds, it became clear: the russian army
would not take the capital.
As a young child, Ukraine was always a place I dreamed of visiting, and now here ten months after the war started, I found
myself standing where they sought to be, in a city that remained unbroken. On this particular December morning, heavy snow
fell, offering a fleeting moment of peace to a nation still fighting for its future. Amidst the scars of war, Ukraine
revealed its beauty and its strength, a testament to the unyielding spirit of its people. Ukraine is a land of history,
resilience, and breathtaking landscapes—a country that endures and inspires.
