Before my first visit to the Pacific Northwest, I had heard many stories about the hike to Spirit Falls and how "difficult" it could be. After hiking there
half a dozen times, I can confidently say it's not that tough. The trail is steep with many switchbacks, but if you take it slow, it's manageable.
However, when it's dry, the soil is loose and slippery, and when it's wet, the mud makes it even more challenging.
But the reward at the end is worth it. The emerald blue waters of the falls make it one of the most photogenic spots in the region. Capturing that
striking blue color in the water can be tricky depending on the conditions, but I foresee many more hikes—maybe a few more slides along the way—down to
these falls, especially during the winter months to capture its beauty across the seasons.
