One of the original inspirations for my passion in photography was the documentation of abandoned buildings. This hotel room is located in
downtown Birmingham, Alabama, within the Thomas Jefferson Hotel. At its peak, it was considered one of the most luxurious hotels in the nation. However,
the hotel closed in 1983 and has remained abandoned ever since. I made four trips into this hotel, with my final visit on July 4th, 2012. This room felt
like a time capsule, a snapshot of an era that has long since passed.
